REMEMBER WHEN // life was thrown up into unknown waters. In this time we began to crave what we could not have or couldn’t do. But instead we realised what we have had all along.
REMEMBER WHEN // we had time. Time to garden in the sunshine on a Monday. Time to paint the extra pictures with your kids. Time for longer baths, baking cakes, the extra cuddles. Time to miss your loved ones, and remember why they’re missed. Time to watch how the world reacted, and to feel the feelings that arose in yourself. Time to let Mother Nature heal.
REMEMBER WHEN // It felt like a dream waking up and life as we knew it was no longer, life’s little luxuries seem like forever ago. The days are long and we are getting more creative with our time and learning to live a more basic life.
If this time has taught me anything it’s that children love being home, it’s their safe haven, it’s where they know themselves and where they hope & dream. Children don’t want much, we think they do, but all they want is our time.
REMEMBER WHEN // My waters broke at 38 weeks. It was the day before my husbands family business would be forced to close. The world was quickly turning upside down and I felt a sudden urgency to have our baby in our arms. The visiting rules in hospital kept changing and I was becoming increasingly anxious of being separated from my family. I had been preparing our daughter for weeks (months) in advance on how things might go when I left home to have the baby, and how things might look like when I brought the baby home. The only part missing from the stories I’d tell her was - global pandemic.
You were born on 6 April 2020. We kept you and your big sister home and safe for a few weeks leading up to your arrival. We couldn’t risk anyone getting sick, especially your dad who was the only person allowed at your birth and your first few days in hospital.
Remember When // Everything changed in a moment and it felt like the world stood still.
When staying home with you was what we were told to do. We bunkered down and found a new rhythm and a grace for a new pace.
We have all had our days and our moments when it’s all seemed too much. In our new limitations our creativity has been reminded that it has none.
